The Word On The Street has lots of family fun to offer on KidStreet!
(Toronto) – The Word On The Street is pleased to present four lively programming venues for children, a huge exhibitor marketplace of family-friendly wares and a new Activity Guide produced by the editors of Owlkids and chickaDEE, all on KidStreet!
The place where books come alive, the Children’s Activity Tent is one of the liveliest places on KidStreet! Draw along with renowned artist Barbara Klunder, decorate delicious Cups ‘o Cake with Elisabeth de Mariaffi, dance along with The Funky Mamas and touch a python courtesy of Reptilia!
A selection of our country’s favourite authors and illustrators will descend upon our Children’s Reading Tent to present from some of 2009’s best children’s books. Hear from Cary Fagan’s continuation of the Jacob Two-Two series, count along with Charles Pachter in Canada Counts and see Barbara Reid’s beautiful plasticine illustrations.
If you have children age three and under, the Little Readers Tent is the place for you! Enjoy storytelling, rhyming activities and music for your kids while gathering tips on how to introduce early-literacy into your wee one’s daily schedule. Segments will be led by the Toronto Public Library, Parent-Child Mother Goose Program, Celia Lottridge and many more!
Our crowd-favourite, the TVOKids Stage will feature its most-loved personalities for fun, games, singing and dancing! You can read along with Gisèle or pick up some smooth moves from Jackie’s School of Dance. Don’t forget to come by and say hi to Polkaroo!
We are also pleased to announce that KidStreet will have a new location at the south end of Queen’s Park along Wellesley Street. With a larger marketplace than ever before, visitors can check out new vendors and drop by their favourite booths like Mabel’s Fables, Scholastic, Sylvan Learning Centres and Random House of Canada!
KidStreet will also play host to the special celebrations for chickaDEE Magazine’s 30th birthday. Make sure to check out our KidStreet Activity Guide, brought to you by the editors of Owl and chickaDEE and featuring characters from their publications!
