The Golden Filter The mysterious New York duo who have remixed Empire of the Sun, Little Boots, Cut Copy and Pete Bjorn and John return to the UK in September for a string of dates kicking off with Smash vs. Anorak on 24th. They released the limited edition single ‘Solid Gold’ earlier this year on Dummy, and play post-millennial disco with an icy sheen. www.myspace.com/thegoldenfilter Dimbleby & Capper Dimbleby & Capper, the alias of 21 year old New Cross resident Laura Bettinson, has already won many fans including Huw Stevens and Steve Lamacq with her beguiling voice and stage demeanour. The up-and-comer played the Introducing stage at Glastonbury this year and is currently in the studio recording her first single. www.myspace.com/dimblebyandcapper NewIslands Fresh from playing Offset Festival last weekend, hotly-tipped five piece NewIslands will be playing the first slot at Smash vs. Anorak. The Northampton-based band will no doubt get the crowds going with their cosmic synth-heavy pop. www.myspace.com/newislands 24th September will see Smash vs. Anorak host the Shelter House of Cards Exhibition launch party. The housing charity has asked 52 of the country’s leading artists including Damien Hirst, Rankin, Alexander McQueen, David Bailey and Vivienne Westwood to each create a unique playing card resulting in a complete deck of art. Not to forget Smash & Grab’s marvellous party games will be available throughout the night. With a tranny-formation booth, the beyond-hetero dress up box, the board of love and a sexual post box to entertain you, it is sure to be a fun-filled night. Come down and declare your love for the Anoraks!
