TO MARK THE ALBUM'S RELEASE, DAY PERFORMED HIS NEW SINGLE "Til You Come to Me" ON THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG FERGUSON SEPTEMBER 8th
On Tuesday, September 8th, Spencer Day celebrated the release of Vagabond, his debut album for Concord Records with a performance of his new single "Til You Come to Me" on CBS's The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Vagabond debuted in the Top 10 on Billboard/SoundScan Contemporary Jazz Chart and reached #1 on the iTunes Jazz Album chart.
Spencer Day displays a wide-ranging musical sensibility on Vagabond. "I wanted to create a musical hybrid," Day explains. "I really wanted to infuse this album with a more contemporary aesthetic, and also draw on some influences from the early '60s, like Burt Bacharach, Roy Orbison, and Dusty Springfield. I wanted to create a sound that could stand alone and not be easily put into one category, but at the same time appeal to a broad range of listeners." The result is a unique sound - at once familiar and intriguing, resonant and refreshing - carried forward by Day's hauntingly bittersweet songwriting, supple piano, and intimate, evocative vocals.
