The journey of Beats by Dr. Dre began over two and a half years ago, when Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine joined forces with the audio experts at Monster, including ‘Head Monster’ Noel Lee.
The three men all shared a common frustration: the inadequate sound of normal headphones, which just couldn’t deliver the full sounds of today’s music and digital audio tracks the way the artists intended. When artists record their music, they listen back in studio on high-performance loudspeakers and high-powered amps, and they create lush musical soundscapes with layers of high and low-frequency sound. This is the power and experience the Beats team wanted to re-create in their new headphones.
