After issuing their acclaimed self-titled debut album on Friendly Fire this summer, LimeWire Store has exclusively released Live at Lime with The Phenomenal Handclap Band. Recorded at their own Chanel Studios in New York's Lower East Side, the EP was produced by head-honcho DJs/producers/musicians Daniel Collás and Sean Marquand, and performed by the full eight-piece live band. Drawing upon disco, funk, R&B, Latin, soul, and rock to craft their sultry grooves, the EP features five reworked versions of songs found on their debut, which Pitchfork described as "...buzzing, burbling four-on-the-floor dance floor fillers...a resounding success."
Dan Koplowitz, owner of Friendly Fire Recordings, had this to say about the Live at Lime session: "We were thrilled by the opportunity to work with the folks at LimeWire to create this live EP for the Phenomenal Handclap Band, and delighted by how the music came out. The Phenomenal Handclap Band's songs really shine in the live setting and we feel this session captured their amazing live show brilliantly."
"Ever since Phenomenal Handclap Band played our SXSW party this year, we've been mildly obsessed with them, so we invited them to do a Live at Lime session. Producing something special with a talented and rising band like PHB is a big part of what Live at Lime is all about, really. Our love affair with the band isn't over yet, though — we've asked them to DJ our official CMJ party this month [along with Jon Spencer and Margaret Cho]," added Tom Monday, LimeWire Store's Director of Partner Relations.
