Melbourne band The Temper Trap’s incredible year continues to go from strength to strength with the last few weeks bringing a swag of ARIA nominations, a Top 10 UK single, sold out UK headline tour and Big Day Out announcement.
The band’s critically acclaimed, ARIA Top 10 debut album Conditions has seen them land four ARIA nominations for this year’s ARIA Awards, namely Album of the Year, Best Rock Album and Breakthrough Artist Album for Conditions, and a Single of the Year nomination for Sweet Disposition.
The aforementioned Sweet Disposition is also shaping up to become one of the biggest rock singles in the UK this year after crashing into the UK Top 10 singles chart at # 7 this week and surpassing Gold sales. Driven by Sweet Disposition’s rise to the highly sought after Radio 1 A List and a completely sold-out UK headline tour in late September, Conditions has also re-entered the UK Top 40, sitting at # 25 this week, and is tipped to climb further in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the band has touched down in the US for a series of headline dates and promo to launch the album’s North American release on October 13. Following their scene stealing performances at SXSW earlier in the year and major profile from Sweet Disposition’s placement in hit indie flick (500) Days of Summer, the anticipation in the US continues to gather pace with the band chosen as MTV’s Discover priority artist for the coming months and live performances scheduled for a host of America’s biggest talk shows in coming weeks.
The remainder of the year indicates the momentum will only hasten with another European headline tour, prestigious BBC Live At Abbey Road recording session, massive UK and Irish tours with Florence & the Machine, Christmas headline show at London’s Koko (which sold out in 3 days) and triumphant return home for Falls Festival dates to close the year. 2010 will commence with the Southbound & Sunset Sounds festivals, a spot on the national Big Day Out line-up and multiple return visits to both sides of the Atlantic.
