Set for release mid Novemeber 2009
THE AMAZING - 'The Amazing' (Subliminal Sounds)
UK release for an album already receiving lashings of critical acclaim in The Amazing's native Sweden, this bold debut is an all-encompassing sonic soundscape of groovy electric folk rock, psychedelic pop and airy acoustic ballads. Comprising of musicians who were friends long before they formed a band, The Amazing boast two members of Dungen in their ranks. Gorgeous mix of Pink Floyd-esq sonic sounds (one for your headphones!) and delicate balladry that fans of Nick Drake will appreciate.

PAUL HAIG - 'Relive' (Rhythm Of Life)
Latest long-player from former Josef K frontman Paul Haig, who's enjoying a a purple patch of creativity at the moment with his third album is as many years. For the uninitiated, Josef K were one of the most influential bands of the post-punk era, the likes of Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party (to name but two) citing them as an influence and inspiration. A full 28 years since the release of their one and only album 'The Only Fun In Town', Haig's gift for off-kilter pop melodies, meticulously arranged guitars, spiky attitude and angst-ridden lyrics remains. At ten tracks and just over half an hour long, Relive is fat-free, lean and mean, brisk and brilliant.

THE PHANTOM BAND - 'Throwing Bones' (Chemikal Underground)
Following the phenomenal response to debut album Checkmate Savage, Glasgow’s The Phantom Band are set to release Throwing Bones as their next single. A song about miscommunication, it wouldn't be a Phantom Band song if it didn't feature an unlikely marrying of sounds and styles. So after beginning with an insistent beat and driving drums, listen out for the switch to vocal doo-wop - a change enforced when bassist Gerry was too drunk to play and Andy had to sing the bass parts!
