CRIMEA X // NEW EP - CHORNE MORE + LIVE LONDON DATE

Italy’s favourite space rockers, Crimea X (Jukka Reveberi and DJ Rocca), continue their romantic sojourn into uncharted territory with a satirical exploration of retro Russian touristic imagery with their new EP, ‘Chorne More’ or ‘Black Sea’ in the Slavic tongue.

Having named the EP’s tracks after well-known Russian personalities, Crimea X, have reinterpreted each song in their own signature, imitable style. Opening track, ‘Jurij’, is a reference to 80’s Soviet leader, Jurij Andropov, renowned for his hard line, right wing approach.

‘Vavara’ and ‘Liubov’ are the duo’s homage to Russia’s leading avant-garde art movement with nods to abstract artist, Vavara Stepanova, the wife Alexander Rodchenko and long time collaborator of fellow constructivist, Liubov Popova.

‘Chorne More’ sees the band’s foray into a more vocal led orchestration, fusing their pop sensibilities with their own Balearic world full of cinematic landscapes, catchy piano riffs and delightful edits.

The band’s previous EP, ‘Phoros’ was lauded by the nu-disco community and became a staple item in the record boxes of Lindstrom, Prins Thomas, Rune Lindbaek, Bjorn Torske (who has just done a remix of ‘Vavara’.) and a whole slew of other cosmically inclined DJs and friends.

Crimea X have just finished remixing duties for The Dark Esquire, Banjo or Freakout, Luca Baldini and Ajello feat. Fred Ventura.
