The official video for 'Mowgli's Road' by Marina And The Diamonds and directed by Chris Sweeney who has made videos for Friendly Fires and Sophie Ellis Bextor, has just been released and is, as you might expect is suitably 'cuckoo'. Marina herself is a pocket-sized star – a fiery combination of Greek& Welsh who spends her time between songwriting, hand-creating merchandise and selling vintage clothing. Described affectionately by The Guardian as a “seriously warped mind in the body of a fox”, Marina’s sound is all encompassing. She takes on piano ballads, synth heavy bass lines, brass, bird calls, chanting and ooohs and ahhs in varying vocal ranges – wonderfully varied and yet utterly distinctive. 'Mowgli's Road' is the perfect introduction to her slightly warped kaledeskope world of pop, which sounds like Kate Bush and Siouxsie Sioux on a sugar rush.
