‘Lie Awake’ is the second single to be lifted from the thrilling debut album by A Mountain of One, ‘Institute Of Joy’.
Already hailed as a ‘psych summer anthem’ by NME, ‘Lie Awake’ is essentially a duet between the two members of A Mountain Of One, Mo Morris and Zeben Jameson.
In the words of Mo, ‘its a ballad portraying the strength of a relationship and how it can turn your life round on a dime when your at your lowest ebb.’
It’s one of the most important songs in the almost symbiotic relationship between these two musical soulmates. Drawing on Talk Talk and Pink Floyd influences, it manages to lift the listener off their feet, a beautiful sense of calm, as Zeb delivers one of the most elegant vocals of his career. The production, like all of ‘Institute Of Joy’, is breathtaking. The track is a beacon in 2009, one that lights the way into autumn.
A Mountain of One play their first UK headline tour in years this November. The opening night sees the band playing the Scala in London. This will be one of the live highlights of the year, the band promising an experience that will be food for the mind and soul.
