 Loud And Quiet, one of London’s leading music papers has from today gone national. The monthly free sheet will now be available in over 150 different venues in 27 different towns, with further expansion planned. Distribution in London is handled by the paper itself, national distribution will be handled by Forte. Launched by current editor Stuart Stubbs in January 2005, the title has developed from its initial black and white printer run, to a colour A5 format before re-launching as a tabloid sized newspaper. Currently read by more than 20,000 people, Loud And Quiet has built a reputation for championing new talent from the indie/electronic undergrounds, its quality journalism and the attention paid to design. Recent cover stars have included artists such as HEALTH, Erol Alkan, The Horrors and The Big Pink. The paper has provided a launch pad for many up and coming journalists with the likes of Time Out Clubs Editor Kate Hutchinson, BBC News Beat writer Tom Pinnock and Tim Out writer Edgar Smith all starting their careers working on the title. Along with the national rollout Loud And Quiet have recently set up their own cassette tape label and have just finished the first Loud And Quiet national tour with San Diego quartet Crocodiles. “We're really excited about working with Forte to make Loud And Quiet widely available throughout the UK. The indie labels and bands they distribute are all very much what we're into, and expanding outside of London has been something we've had our eye on for a good while now.
The plan now is to continue to steadily increase our print run and the number of stockists outside of London over the coming months and into 2010. Our stockists in London won't be affected though, and neither will the content of the paper - we'll still be concentrating on new music that we're really excited about, throughout the whole of Loud And Quiet."
