South Wales based Sierra Alphaare the very definition of pop music; directed at anyone and everyone and its purpose is clear. It is the coming of a new era, where pop music regains its reputation as the people’s music; a mixture of beauty and rock brilliance built on a very clever and distinctive pop platform.
The band’s debut five-track EP ‘Superhero’ was released in June this year, receiving strong press support and airplay on a wealth of regional, online and student stations, including
BBC Radio Leeds’ Raw Talent show. EP track ‘Spending On You’ was added to the playlist on BFBS Radio.
The EP’s lead track ‘Superhero’ has been featured as Amazon US’ ‘Single Of The Day’ and has been licensedfor Version 3 of Tapulous’ hugely successful ‘Tap Tap Revenge’ app for iPhone and iPod Touch, which is out now. EP track ‘World Machine’ has also been featured on two Myspace.com video segments promoting Leonardo DiCaprio’s film, ‘Body of Lies’.
With over a quarter of a million views on MySpace and over 3000 Facebook fans, the band has built a very strong and loyal fan base since forming eighteen months ago, particularly in South Wales with their live shows selling out on a regular basis. Furthermore, the physical copy of their EP has completely sold out its limited edition 1,200 copies.Regular visits to the studio have enabled the band to record a catalogue of hugely commercial, radio friendly tunes.
Having clinched a deal with new independent label Major-G Records, who distribute their releases globally via InGrooves, Sierra Alpha have their sights set firmly on the prize. Frontman Martin Goddard is more than excited to be working with Major-G Records and in particular its founder Gordon Rintoul, who has worked with the likes of Alanis Morissette and Paul Weller. Gordon first saw Sierra Alpha at a London show in September last year and immediately saw their potential.
“Major-G is proud to be working with Sierra Alpha and Mutant Orange Management. Success is often achieved as a by product of hard work, a good team and bundles of talent and with the direction of Mutant Orange and Major-G, Sierra Alpha certainly have all the ingredients to succeed.”
