It started with two sisters, Jessica and Cristi Jo, of New York. A couple of guys and a girl later, they became what we now know as Zambri. The sisters write the songs and sing (with surprisingly huge voices for little bodies). Then join Chris, Andy and Carrie (who is seen playing electronics with her boots). Zambri generated some buzz after releasing their self-titled, debut EP last year, and became one amongst the few unsigned bands, to participate as an official act at both the CMJ & SXSW music festivals.

Blogs and magazines try to pinpoint their unique sound, having compared them to the likes of Kate Bush, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Siouxsie, Bjork, Elastica, Cocteau Twins, New Order, and My Bloody Valentine. The band are currently working on their debut album, and playing some national tour dates.

Janee & Bless Beats feat. Bless Beats

Single: Sex in the City
Label: Moshi Moshi Records
VIDEO: YouTube - moshimoshirecords's Channel

Chuck together the honey drizzled lyrics of the hottest young rapper about, Janee Bennett, larger than large production from UK grime king Bless Beats (already had a # 1 with Wiley’s ‘Rolex’) and one massive piano riff and what do you have? A summer club anthem that’s what. Some might know Manchester-born Janee Bennett from her previous work – originally discovered by Roll Deep who asked her to vocal on their single Do Me Wrong, and gaining copious nods of appreciation on the blogs – the 22 year old might just be the UK’s answer to a young Beyonce. East Londoner Bless Beats is something of a beats prodigy – having acquired mass recognition from his home crowd for his insanely popular grime productions, 21 year old Bless has bigger ideas and is currently attracting musical talent of all walks to work with him on his debut album due out autumn 2009. Tinchy Stryder (who had his first UK number one with the aptly named song "Number 1", a collaboration with N-Dubz, also features on Sex in the City.

Plastiscines

Single: Barcelona
Label: Because
VIDEO:

As one of the first signings of NYLON Records in the USA, appearances on Gossip Girl and recent support slots for Little Boots, you know Plastiscines are just going to work it. Prior to conquering NY, this all-girl rock band won over their native France, having received a commendation in Paris last year. Barcelona’ is the first single from Plastiscines album ‘About Love’ due out 2010 produced by Butch Walker (Katy Perry, Pink, Avril Lavigne.). The single is a slice of full throttle candy punk and enjoys a full dance floor work out, with remixes served up by Lifelike, Headman, indie disco royalty Rory Philips and gameboy pop pioneers Utters.
