Over the last year, We Were Promised Jetpacks have emerged as serious contenders to the indie/ post-rock crown, and will return to the UK in November as youthful but already seasoned veterans when their current USA dates with labelmates Twilight Sad, Frightened Rabbit and Brakes come to an end. To co-incide with the latest run of dates the band announce the release of a new single ‘It’s Thunder and It’s Lightening’ / ‘Ships With Holes Will Sink’ through FatCat on 23rd November. The dates are as follows: Nov 06th - Sunderland Crash Club Nov 07th - Leeds Cockpit 3 Nov 09th - Nottingham Bodega Nov 10th - Cambridge Portland Arms Nov 11th - Norwich B2 Nov 12th - Oxford Jericho Tavern Nov 13th - Brighton Freebutt Nov 14th - Southampton Lennons Nov 16th - Guildford Boileroom Nov 17th - London Borderline Nov 18th - Cheltenham Frog & Fiddle Nov 19th - Oxford Jericho Tavern Nov 20th - Amsterdam London Calling @ Paradiso Nov 21st - Bristol Cooler Nov 23rd - Swansea Sin City Nov 24th - Hatfield University of Hertfordshire Nov 25th - Manchester Roadhouse Nov 26th - Liverpool Korova Nov 27th - Sheffield Leadmill
Nov 29th - Glasgow King Tutts A word of mouth hit that is still rolling out, the Edinburgh school friends debut long-player ‘These Four Walls’, released in June, explodes thunderously as colossal choruses fall into place, the romanticism and accessibility of a pure pop sensibility never hidden too deep, aided and abetted by Ken Thomas’ (Sigur Ros, Cocteau Twins, David Bowie etc) studio mastery and Peter Katis’ (Frightened Rabbit, The Twilight Sad, The National etc.) mixing. The recording of These Four Walls was almost entirely live, with only minimal overdubs, and the band members’ collected passion and intuition is translated into a pure, precise form.
