Debut EP Songs From Under The Covers – written during the course of Katie’s time on Green-Eyed World – introduces her unique voice, immediately evoking memories of legends Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James, to many for the very first time.
It is a collection of five songs demonstrating her musical and songwriting prowess, heavily influenced by the swing/jazz era of the 50s and 60s, that sees her teaming up with some of the most successful writers in pop history, whose credits include Amy Winehouse, Gwen Stefani and Seal.
Katie V, who has also written with The Sex Pistols’ Glen Matlock and Chaz Jankel, of Ian Dury And The Blockheads, during her short career, made her name in Green-Eyed World after being handpicked from a pool of 250 hopefuls for the Sprite series.
The show, in which Katie stars under full name Katie Vogel, focuses on an English musician who travels to the US in search of breaking into the music business.
It has followed her on her adventures across the Atlantic, meeting interesting people along the way and trying to get herself heard, giving viewers a unique fly-on-the-wall glimpse of a musician trying to ‘make it’.
An instant hit, it was the first of its kind to integrate a social networking aspect with a reality show, so that viewers can chat about Katie’s progress and share their ideas and advice on certain situations directly.
