November 2
Back by dope demand, Metronomy are set to re-release their debut album Pip Paine (Pay The £5000 You Owe) on the 2nd November 2009. Originally released in 2006 to critical acclaim, and featuring the singles “You Could Easily Have Me”, Trick Or Treatz”, it was an obtuse but fascinating, largely instrumental electro-pop that reflected the eccentricity of its title.
Stirring up Krautrock, dancehall, polka, pop and folk music, the record was exclusively the work of debonaire frontman Joseph Mount and was first released as a limited run on the Holiphonic label. Now featuring 4 bonus tracks including the previously unreleased “In the D.O.D.” the album makes its return on the Because UK label that released “Night’s Out”, the band’s hugely successful sophomore album in 2008.
Having recently reincarnated as a four piece, fully realised band, Metronomy continue to amaze fans worldwide live and were a recent highlight of the BBC’s Electric Proms series.
