The Superfantastics: debut London shows from tomorrow, new EP out Monday + free mp3
Nova Scotia, Canada’s The Superfantastics are set to play their first ever London show tomorrow, kick starting a run of dates in the capital next week with the likes of fellow indie newcomers Dan Mangan and
CatsandCatsandCats
. New EP ‘Choose Your Destination’ is out on Monday and to coincide with the release, Canada’s likely successors to The Breeder’s 90s indie pop crown are giving away a free download off the EP.

‘Choose Your Destination’ is a hook-laden collection of melodically-charged tracks. On the EP, The Superfantastics have pushed pop music to its borders with each track, delivering hook after hook through a mesh of synths, fuzz soaked guitars and pounding beats. From the Chet Atkins inspired riff in “Lullaby Punches” to the Superchunk snarl of “The Astronomer,” the band has moved past the obvious to produce a unique set of songs that matches simple ideas with a maintained chaos.

Starting as a weekly drum lesson, in 2006 The Superfantastics quickly began to pen songs that earned the attention of their hometown of Halifax, NS. Over the course of their short career, The Superfantastics have proven themselves to be one of Canada’s premiere pop acts. Toronto’s Eye Weekly called their 2007 debut album, ‘Pop Up Book’, “one of this year's best Canadian debuts." They were recently nominated for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Album at the Nova Scotia Music Awards and Best Video for ‘Tonight, Tonite’ at the East Coast Music Awards. In their time together the group has toured Canada relentlessly, performing with internationally renowned acts such as Julie Doiron, The Constantines and The Weakerthans.
