Brain Wash is a new monthly collaboration between The Westbury and young film makers who have come together to present a night of innovative, refreshing and interesting short films. Each event aims to showcase contemporary and artistic projects to those mindful of a monotone media culture. The first Brain Wash will take place on Monday 30th November and is free all night. The deadline for film submissions for that date is 23rd November.
Brain Wash seeks to bring together filmmakers, film lovers, and anyone looking for an out of the ordinary film experience. It provides an inspired alternative to mainstream cinema (and one that encourages you to challenge popular cultural perceptions). Brain Wash will showcase original films which will be sent in by new, undiscovered and existing talent; scouted and selected by a curatorial panel to provide a brilliant line-up every month.
Each Brain Wash will be themed. So far submissions have been flooding in through word of mouth on websites such as Shooting People, Arts Council, Mandy and University of the Arts. Through its Facebook fan page, Brain Wash is creating an online community of forward thinking individuals with both parties utilising the space to network, discuss u- and-coming events and future collaborative projects. Original graphics to accompany the concept have also been created.
Every featured filmmaker and their guest receive a complimentary drink care of The Westbury. The bar will also be serving bespoke film inspired cocktails such as: Raging Bull and Brain Wash - with lots more available on the night.
Brain Wash is hosted in The Priory Rooms - The Westbury’s luxurious private function space and provides a brilliant setting for screenings, relaxing and networking. It has a capacity of up to 50 seated or 100 standing, and they are expecting a successful turnout of audience members and filmmakers.
Brain Wash is always looking for innovative and exciting short filmmakers who are looking for a place to showcase their work. This is an excellent opportunity to get your film shown. They’ll also be holding a quarterly 'Best of Brain Wash' competition with film related prizes, guest industry judges and a chance to have your film seen in other supporting venues across London.
All shorts should be:
· No longer than 15 minutes
· Aspect ratio 16:9 Submitted on DVD PAL
· The filmmakers must own the rights for public screening, including all music and images, and agree to the film being shown free of charge.
