by Heron [More from this Author] SATURDAY 28 NOVEMBER 2009 CRYSTAL PALACE, LONDON SE19 The successful and innovative Crystal Palace Festival will be returning to the Triangle in a festive form on Saturday 28th November, offering a fresh mix of music,food,film and fun. Visitors and locals are invited to enjoy a full program of entertainment and fun. It's going to be no small feat to top the last festival in July, but you can be sure it will do. Set up by Andy Bambino The Crystal Palace Triangle Free Festivals have grown organically with more and more traders, pubs and restaurants joining in the fun.
The event is underpinned by the brilliant selection of live music in the Triangle’s many pubs and the three interesting markets selling antiques/retro/food/craft/books and records. People are invited to set up street stalls selling home-made produce and bric-a-brac. There's still much more to be announced, though expect many festive additions in the coming weeks! 'Katherine is due for another hot Caribbean Christmas. But this year she's dreaming of a white Christmas, sleighs, toboggans and snowmen. With calypso style Christmas songs, a Christmas cape, boots and gloves Santa sends her a magic sleigh that transports her to France. Things aren’t as festive as she had hoped they would be in the Alps. The King is lonely and miserable and decides to cancel Christmas. How can Katherine cheer him up and get Christmas back on again?' 3:45 - 4:30pm "Cinderella and the Stinky Slipper" a seasonal family show presented by the Barking Dog Theatre Company. The actors use puppets, audience participation, lots of action and songs so that children of all ages can can join in with all the time-honoured pantomime traditions. 4.30 - 5.15 'Death of the Palace.' The story of the catastrophic fire that destroyed South London's glass palace in 1936. Presented by local historian John Greatrex. Pop by and see them / buy a t shirt etc. Phoenix Centre Frost Fayre - Westow Street 11 am - 5pm - Popular Frost Fayre and themed market for essential gifts and Christmas treats. 2009 is extra special, as the Centre will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary, serving the local community, an hourly Champagne Raffle Prize, will be drawn, for lucky entrance ticket holders. This year the Phoenix Community Centre will support the London Air Ambulance Service and aim to improve on the stellar £800 raised at last years event for St. Christopher’s Hospice.
