Additions include Foreigner, Asia, Black Label Society, Clutch and more
High Voltage is the must-see rock event of 2010 – a two-day festival featuring the very best in classic rock, progressive rock and metal. Custom built by rock fans, for rock fans.
Topping the bill are the legendary Emerson, Lake & Palmer and ZZ Top. Added to the bill are Foreigner, Asia, Focus, The Reasoning, Touchstone, Black Label Society and Clutch with many more acts to be announced…
The latest additions add to an already stellar lineup that will run across two days and three stages – Main Stage, Prog Stage and Metal Stage.
FOREIGNER (Main Stage) are one of the most popular rock bands of all time, with sales of over 70 million albums and a repertoire of worldwide hit singles including “Cold As Ice”, “Double Vision”, “Waiting For A Girl Like You”, “Urgent”, “Hot Blooded” and “Juke Box Hero” and worldwide No 1 “I Want To Know What Love Is”. Led by British guitarist Mick Jones and American singer Kelly Hansen, Foreigner are releasing their highly acclaimed new
album, “Can't Slow Down”. The Album was produced by Mick Jones and Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Buckcherry, Gavin Rossdale) and includes a remake of a classic Foreigner track titled "Fool For You Anyway" which was co-produced by Jones’ stepson Mark Ronson, famed for his work on Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black. The quintessential festival band, Foreigner will be playing a Greatest Hits set at High Voltage.
The Prog stage will highlight the best of the past, present and future of this hugely diverse scene.
ASIA (Prog Stage) are the legendary supergroup featuring guitarist Steve Howe (Yes), bassist/vocalist John Wetton (King Crimson, Roxy Music), keyboard player Geoff Downes (Buggles, Yes) and drummer Carl Palmer, who will also be headlining High Voltage as one third of Emerson, Lake And Palmer. Asia’s eponymous first album topped the US Billboard chart for nine consecutive weeks and was the biggest selling album worldwide in 1982. “Asia” has gone on to sell over 20 million copies worldwide and the band will be performing this iconic album in its entirety for the first time in the UK at High Voltage.
Focus (Prog Stage) are the Dutch progressive rock heroes who shot to fame in 1971 with the groundbreaking rock anthem “Hocus Pocus” – an eccentric mix of heavy riffing, nonsensical lyrics, flute, whistling and yodelling! “Hocus Pocus” reached the top ten in the US and has since been performed by rock giants Iron Maiden and Foo Fighters, and by classical violinist Vanessa Mae. The Dutch prog masters will be reprising their legendary “At The Rainbow” set from the 1973 live album of the same name.
For the future there will also be performances by Welsh seven piece prog act The Reasoning (Prog Stage) and UK rock act Touchstone (Prog Stage)
Proving High Voltage is truly one for all the family is the Metal Stage…
Black Label Society (Metal Stage). Legendary rock guitarist Zakk Wylde (formerly with Ozzy Osbourne) brings his band to High Voltage - an inspiring and authentic hard rock act, famed for their explosive live performances. Zakk Wylde is one of rock music’s all time guitar greats.
Clutch (Metal Stage). One of the most credible of the Southern USA rock bands and consummate live performers, Clutch have just released critically acclaimed album “Strange Cousins From The West”.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer are reuniting especially for High Voltage. This will be ELP’s one and only live performance of 2010 – the culmination of a spectacular career that has seen the trio sell over 30 million albums worldwide. This marks the first time that ZZ Top will be headlining a UK rock festival in 25 years. The superstar trio, known far and wide as that little ol' band from Texas, is celebrating its 40th year with the same personnel line-up intact. The group has sold in excess of 40 million albums worldwide…
