RELEASES NEW SOLO ALBUM, LOOKING THROUGH LEAVES
Electronic musician & two-time GRAMMY nominee producer-remixer & artist Carmen Rizzo has had a very diverse and eclectic career. On one end co-writing and programming on Seal’s classic Seal 2 album to producing, co-writing on Paul Oakenfold’s Bunka album, remixing BT, Tiesto, and collaborating with Jem & Esthero amongst others. He also worked with Coldplay, Morissette, KD Lang, Ryuichi Sakamoto & Pete Townshend of The Who. On the other end of the spectrum, Carmen has fine tuned his electronic production with leading world music acts including the critically acclaimed Tuvan Throat singers Huun Huur Tu, to co-founding world music acts Niyaz & Lal Meri. And he doesn’t stop there, as a composer Carmen has scored two films from acclaimed British Oscar winning director Michael Apted for the film Power of the Game (Pathe) and a short film called Party Guest, as well as writing the closing theme for the award wining Sony Play station video game, Un Charted 2. His monthly radio show “Mo Glo” airs on WNYE 91.5 FM in New York and is presented by the influential radio station KEXP. Carmen’s music has been licensed countless times appearing on the hit Buddha Bar compilations as well as TV placements CSI Miami, True Blood, The OC, Samantha Who & Shark to mention a few.
As a recording artist, Carmen past two albums The Lost Art Of The Idle Moment (Lab/Universal-2005) was USA Today’s No. 1 pick for “The Life Section” fall music guide, as well as debuting No. 2 on tastemaker KCRW’s Album Chart and peaking at No. 2 on XM’s Café Chart. The follow up Ornament Of An Impostor (Electrofone-2008) went to #42 of the top most played albums of 2008 on KCRW. Both albums have a remix EP featuring remixes from Morgan Page, Charlie Cooper of Telefone Tel Aviv Jason Bentley, Andy Gray & Supreme Being of Leisure.
The current album Looking Through Leaves (Electrofone 2010) is a dark minimal electronic landscape written in planes, trains & hotel rooms all over the world form Russia, Europe, Canada & America. Guest singers include Grant Lee Phillips, Shana Halligan (Formerly of Bittersweet) Kate Havnevik, Rosey & January Thompson. With Carmen’s new album, his production values are front and center, proving once again why he’s such an in demand producer, remixer, and artist.
