The Stone Roses play first gig in 16 years, Live footage appears online

Last night. hard-core fans where treated with a surprise gig Warrington Parr Hall in Cheshire, this was the first public gig for The Stone Roses in 16 years.

To be shortlisted for the gig, The Stone Rosesfans had to prove their dedication to the band and turn up with a CD cover, record sleeve or Stone Roses t-shirt.

The Stone Roses played the gig for the charity HUGS (Helping Uganda Schools). The fan base was tipped off about the show hours before it was due to start and were sent an email with instructions how to collect a writstband.

Liam Gallagher from Oasis turned up and tweeted 'The Stone Roses are back'.

The show was the first time The Stone Roses have played in decades and used as a warm-up for the shows in Manchester on June 29 and 30 and July 1.

All songs in the set came from the good old days. There was no new music although the band has written four new tracks.
