Man Forever is pleased to unveil the video for "Ur Eternity" from their recently released sophomore full-length, Pansophical Cataract via Thrill Jockey Records. The 17-minute piece portrays exactly what Man Forever has become: a collaborative long-form performance project. The video is a collaboration between Man Forever, painter Sto and director Nick Chatfield-Taylor. Sto asked Chatfield-Taylor to make a video of him painting while Man Forever performed; it was filmed in one 10-hour session in the space above Public Assembly in Brooklyn.
Sto weaves a massive fabric of bold lines and primary colors that eventually envelops the band as they build a wall of amp noise, organ drone and single-stroke drum rolls. Sto is a Brooklyn-based painter and sculptor, founder of Cinders Gallery and member of DUBKNOWDUB. Nick Chatfield-Taylor is a filmmaker, artist and curator also based in Brooklyn. In this video Man Forever consists of: Kid Millions, Shahin Motia (Ex Models, Oneida), Richard Hoffman (Sightings), Matt Marlin (Pterodactyl), Sarah Richardson and Valerie Uher (Creeping Nobodies).
The drum-centric project from Oneida's Kid Millions aka John Colpitts, features two pieces, edited from their 30 minute live existence to a neat 18+. Man Forever a multi-drummer, drum roll experience, slowly builds to include bass, organ and guitar, creating trance-inducing state of aural euphoria. Man Forever is a vehicle for exploring the outer limits of drum performance, created to overwhelm, to investigate the nuances that bloom in the midst of repetitive music, and to act as a pure sound experience.
As on the album, Kid Millions will be joined on tour by an ever-changing cast of collaborating musicians, including members of The National, Tortoise, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Besnard Lakes, DD/MM/YY, Brokeback, Turn to Crime, White Gregg, Pelt, Constantines, Cave, Terminal Lovers, Scarcity of Tanks, The Apes, Hyrokkin and many more. Keeping with the collaborative spirit, Man Forever has expanded their "Be In Man Forever" contest - a chance for fans to win tickets to the performance in their market and perform with the band (details below).
