Prepare to be taken on an otherworldy trip into a truly cosmic terrain. Ikons’ second album, Life Rhythm represents a new generaton of sound from Sweden’s music capital Gothenburg; a fully formed and thrilling creation of neo-shoegaze-krautrock to set hearts racing.
Life Rhythm is the follow up to Ikons’ acclaimed self titled debut from 2010. Written with a bold vision to create an expansive and captivating sound, the eagerly anticipated record was a joint production by Ikons and Service. Driven by their collected devotion to the enterprising sonics of Neu! and earlier Jesus and Mary Chain, right through to The Pastels and Ride, theirs is a dreamlike opus, dotted with pure pop songs, spoken word samples and far-reaching, extraordinary flights of fancy.
The seven-piece first came together in 2005 in Gothenburg; a city that has fostered a huge number of influential and groundbreaking artists, including Union Carbide, The Knife, Jose Gonzales, The Embassy, The Tough Alliance and Jens Lekman, and continue the legacy with their ever-evolving and adventurous dynamics.
As well as bewitching listeners through their recordings, Ikons are an astonishing live experience, and have previously toured with Spiritualized in Scandinavia, earning them rave reviews.
Life Rhythm will be released on Service, Sweden’s premier label, on 2nd July. The LP will be on white vinyl, in a glowing pantone, neon 805 printed sleeve, in a limited edition of 500. All LP orders come with Ikons sew-on badge and mp3 download.
'Sister' is the first track to be taken from Life Rhythm, and the video features cleverly edited footage of the incredible 'flying nuns' from Harmony Korine's film, Mister Lonely.
