Downton Abbey star, Elizabeth McGovern, will make a special supporting appearance on tour with Big Country later this month, with her own band, Sadie & The Hotheads.
Due to popular demand, Big Country are confirmed to play O2 Academy Leicester (20th), O2 Academy Oxford (21st) and The Forum Hertfordshire, Hatfield in June before they cross the Solent to play the Isle of Wight Festival 2012 on Saturday 23rd June.
“We had a tradition of working with great female vocalists such as Kate Bush and Eddie Reader in the past” says Big Country’s Tony Butler. “Having the opportunity to have Elizabeth perform will us is really cool.”
Elizabeth McGovern adds, “I am thrilled to be playing with such a stellar cast of musicians and look forward greatly to performing with Big Country - and of course my band Sadie & The Hotheads.”
Big Country, who formed in November 1981, recently celebrated their 30th anniversary by performing their classic 1983 album The Crossing live in its entirety with a full UK tour in February this year. The Crossing, an international best seller, sold over 2 million copies in the UK, spawning 3 Top Ten anthemic hits, ‘Fields of Fire’, ‘In A Big Country’ and ‘Chance’.
