Not many grime MCs can count Jack White as a fan, but then Random Impulse isn't your ordinary grime MC. With an electric guitar slung over his shoulder and the support of a live band on stage, Jovel Walker’s brand of smart, fast-paced lyrics and rock guitar riffs have earned the rapper tours with the likes of Professor Green, Rizzle Kicks and buddy Ed Sheeran, as well as writing for Lupe Fiasco and engineering sessions for Wretch 32 and Wiley.

And it doesn’t stop there; Random Impulse has just been added to the line-up of Hackney Weekender 2012, and is set to conquer the stage on the same day as his heroes Jack White and Jay Z.

His grime-rock meets punk has already caught the attention of Zane Lowe, The Guardian and MTV, making his Hackney set a must see.
