With the imminent release of their forthcoming LP Unsound on 9 July via Fire Records, Mission of Burma share another track from the album, the Clint Conley penned "Second Television".
It's been a decade since the post-punk veterans Mission of Burma emerged from their 19-year hiatus with a 2002 reunion tour, and the band shows no signs of slowing down again. On July 9th (UK/EU) 10th (US), the Boston group will release their fifth studio album, Unsound, on Fire Records; in the meantime, their raucous early single 'Second Television' will be digitally released on June 25th.
According to founding bassist Clint Conley, the track's title is a reference to the influential New York band Television. As he explains, "The song could be about material aspirations, but it probably has more to do with Adventure, the second album by one of my favorite bands." When guitarist Roger Miller added his guitar line to the track, "he said he was going for something that sounded heroic, something like Television," Conley adds.
'Second Television' finds the band at their rowdiest; it's an assault of double-tracked guitars, frenzied cymbal crashes and Conley's barking vocals. You can download the track here, and check out Mission of Burma's upcoming US tour dates below. UK/EU dates expected later in the year.
