Just released on May 15, Violen's sophomore album True (Slumberland Records) finds the Brooklyn three-piece further amplifying their innovative songwriting with a palette of exquisitely crafted sound. Their latest video for the song 'When to let go' just made its premiere on Vevo and is a sunny portrait of a couple with a dark and strangely disturbing relationship.

'When to let go' is directed by Alejandro Cardenas, more commonly known as Proenza Schouler's print and textile designer and who has worked solidly with Violens since designing the artwork for their first E.P. Being good friends from early childhood, Cardenas and the band have a united vision that plays a crucial artistic role in everything Violens puts out.

"The song 'When to let go' is an allegory of a type of relationship where there are weak lines separating passion and aggression, so we decided to run with that idea for the video.

We managed to end up in Montauk on the sunniest, coldest, windiest day and let our actors (a real-life couple) have some fun tenderly abusing each other. I think the end result marries nicely with the song.
" -Alejandro Cardenas, Director.
