Rufus Wainwright releases ‘Jericho’ July 15th on Polydor; the next single from his new Mark Ronson produced LP Out of the Game.
The critically acclaimed album charted at No.5 in the UK and ‘Jericho’ is one of its many highlights. Rufus calls it a “biblical mystery” but to us it’s a pop tour de force of biblical proportions, delivered with the utmost flair and finesse.
With balmy piano chords, flourishes of brass, gospel-led backing singers and velveteen vocals, ‘Jericho’ holds up like the Tower of Babel and doubles up as “the most visceral” track on the album.
After wowing at his recent Lyceum show – with 4* reviews from The Times, the FT and The Evening Standard – Rufus is currently touring the US and will air his wonderful new material alfresco at Latitude festival July 15th and at Bath’s Forum July 16th.
Rufus heads out on a 10-date UK tour later this year, sharing the spotlight with his crackerjack new band including Teddy Thompson, Krystle Warren and Brad Albetta.
