Yesterday, on July 11th, British singer Leo Ihenacho began his attempt to set a world record, looking to undertake 24 gigs in 24 hours to raise money for youth charity the Prince’s Trust.
Formerly a vocalist in Mike Skinner’s band The Streets, Leo began his gruelling 24-hour tour at 9pm last night, before travelling around the capital performing at a variety of unique and quirky locations, beginning with a gig inside a pod on the iconic London Eye.
Leo’s band was set to perform inside the London Dungeons, aboard a RIB boat as it bounces down the Thames, in a prison cell in South London and even at Smithfield’s meat market, battling with rush hour traffic, road closures and costume changes to complete the task within the 24-hour time limit.
Along the route Leo is asking supporters to donate through JustTextGiving by Vodafone. The service will allow his fans and passers by to give money directly from their mobile phones by texting ‘LION82 £3’ to ‘70070’. The text is completely free to send and every penny of the money will go to The Prince’s Trust, helping vulnerable young people by giving them the skills and confidence to turn their lives around.
Leo’s charity 24:24 tour will close tonight with a star-studded finale performance at London’s swanky Funky Buddha Club – as he takes to the stage before the clock strikes 8pm on July 12th
