Toronto-based Evening Hymns release the haunting video for 'Family Tree' off their new album Spectral Dusk, which comes out on August 21 in Canada via Shuffling Feet Records.
The video was a collaboration between Istoica (Chris Altorf & Jessica Hayes) and James Cooper with editing by Mary Gerretsen. Evening Hymns and Istoica have worked together previously on a video for 'Dead Deer' off of Evening Hymns' 2009 album Spirit Guides. For 'Family Tree' Jessica Hayes of Istoica explained "the song is so beautiful and haunting, our aim was to make a video that would suit it."
Chris Hayes described the video concept as "centered around the idea of presence. We tried to explore how a space can be filled or weighted with memories, and also drained of those same moments. We used projections of events doubled onto the same space when empty to illustrate the dissipation of family. We were interested in the idea of how relationships can be built and supported by perceived strength, but also how events can shatter such perceptions."

Spectral Dusk will be released on August 21, 2012.
Evening Hymns celebrate the release of Spectral Dusk on August 17 at The Theatre Centre in Toronto, part of the Summerworks Festival and in Ottawa on August 19 at Raw Sugar. In September, Evening Hymns tour across Europe with The Wooden Sky. A Canadian tour is expected later in the fall.
