Kid Smpl – the alias of 21-year-old Seattle electronic producer Joey Butler – returns with the latest evolution in his signature take on atmospheric bass music with the brand-new Escape Pod EP. The four new tracks plunge listeners into a hypnotically cinematic world that pairs ghostly vocal samples with lush synths, immersive low-end tones, complex drumwork, and washed-out ambient textures.

Rounding out the release is a cerebral, euphoric dancefloor remix from San Francisco’s D33J, a blossoming member of the Wedidit Collective (Shlohmo, RL Grime). Escape Pod marks the inaugural release from Hush Hush Records, a new nocturnally-inclined label run by Alex Ruder, a longtime DJ and staff member at Seattle's KEXP. Electronically-inclined outlet XLR8R previewed the title track, and first single, from the release and it's available for free download here.

Most recently, Kid Smpl sat down with Electronic Beats Online & Dipped In Dollars to share some words on the Escape Pod EP and the influences behind the release. The latter premiered the next single from the album, 'Pulse', while The FADER has the stunning video treatment for the track. All the while, Escape Pod continues to set the stage for Kid Smpl's forthcoming debut LP, to be released on Hush Hush later this year.
