New single ‘Sirens’ out September 10, 2012

by +, and has been Read 879 times.

September 10th sees the return of the Brooklyn born songstress Nell Bryden, and the release of her second single ‘Sirens’ from current album Shake The Tree though her own label 157 Records, and an exciting new deal with ADA/Warner Music.

Following on from the success of first single ‘Buildings & Treetops’ (which made it on the BBC Radio 2 & Smooth Radio A-list and was a top 20 airplay hit), Sirens is top of the pile as favourite from her current album. It is a poignant and soaring anthem inspired by Nell’s hometown New York, and her personal experience in the devastating aftermath of 9/11….written ten years on.

'Sirens' is a beautfully crafted song, a slow building driving track with a stunning chorus and thought provoking lyrics. What sets Bryden apart from her contemporaries is that she is more than just a pretty songstress or an impressive set of lungs; every song penned by her is coloured with emotion.

"I’m a New Yorker through and through. I was born in Brooklyn and have been living in Greenwich Village for the past eleven years. I was there on September 11, 2001, a day that haunts me still. It changed my life and influenced me both artistically and personally, but I avoided writing about it. When the ten year anniversary came around though, I realized I was ready. For this song, I was most inspired by the idea of rebirth and rebuilding, and of course my love of New York. The scars will never go away, but the wounds will heal. What you get to after the end of a tragedy is what inspires the refrain, "from the sound of Sirens, love will survive.” Nell Bryden

Over the past seven years, Nell’s traveled 300,000 miles to play 1,400 shows in over a dozen countries. She's the proud New Yorker who put down roots in London; she's the urban girl with country in her bones; and she's the dynamic singer-songwriter who's used music as her passport to faraway places.

Nell is heading back to London to perform an intimate gig at St Pancras Church on Thursday September 13th – there is limited guest list here.

Nell Bryden will be touring the UK in support of one of the UK’s most popular musicians Jools Holland!
