Australian quartet Rapids have been quickly developing a reputation as one on the more progressive bands to emerge from down under. We gave the UK a taste of what Angus McLaren (drums) Will Shepherd (guitar, bass) Remy Hii (bass, guitar) and Jamie Timony (vocals) had to offer with the intense ‘Cut Fast’, a track perfectly offset by the dramatic video starring Jessica Tovey & Ryan Corr. Their EP Holland Air was produced by the man who helmed the beautiful Cloud Control release ‘Bliss Release’ ( Luke Judson) and the band will be releasing a hotly anticipated new EP in October.
As a precursor to the new material, the Sydney band are releasing an innovative video for ‘Krang.’ Rapids have the unique ability to showcase a different style with each release. ‘Cut Fast’ was deliciously intense and punk inspired, while ‘The Phillip The Hawk’ displayed a more reserved style.‘Krang’ has a psychedelic charm that reminds of acts like The Flaming Lips, showcasing Rapids ability to construct walls of abstract sound and decorate with vocals full of character.
The video is something you have to see. Have a watch and try and decipher what is going on.
