Beth's back! And she doesn't disappoint!

Beth Orton has been off our musical radar for around 6 years now, her last album Comfort of Stranger was released in 2006, and she's been sorely missed. But October 1st see's the release of both her new album Sugaring Season and the 1st track from it Magpie, which was premièred on the David Letterman show on 15th August.

WATCH // Beth Orton - Magpie (Live on Letterman)

It's a hauntingly mesmerising track and Beth's vocals are as intimate and tender as ever, Beth; it's good to have you with us again!

Of Magpie, Beth says:
"I am obsessed by the birds outside of my window," she told Rolling Stoneabout the song's inspiration. "Wherever I live I am followed by two blue jays. These birds have many stories attached to them. There is a lot of superstition and conjecture around their stories. These birds hold wisdom for me. They are also oblivious to the fear they raise in others. All the time people are inventing stories to justify actions that often have no bearing on reality. I have experienced being silenced and this song came out of that. It was my way of keeping my voice and a sense of freedom alive."
She certainly has a lot to say, so let's hope we hear it all in the new album!

Beth will also be touring the UK at the end of the year, so be sure to catch her play some pretty small and intimate gigs, I'm sure they'll be very special.
