After the release of critically acclaimed E Volo Love, Domino are to re-release Fránçois & The Atlas Mountains’ 2009's Plaine Indonable.
Sung in both French and English, Fránçois sings whimsically and playfully but even when in French (which, sadly, I don't understand) you can just tell there's some yearning and loss. His Atlas Mountains provide equally whimsical and playful melodies and harmonies, together creating some touching and uplifting music.
Plaine Indonable finds some tracks entrenched in rhythmic percussion influenced by recent compilations of African music recorded in the 1970's, of which Fránçois says "‘Be Water’ is built on an Ethiopian scale called Tezeta, whilst the guitar on ‘Remind’ is inspired by the style of Ali Farka Toure and Group Doueh".
WATCH // Fránçois & The Atlas Mountains - Be Water
Fránçois & The Atlas Mountains will be touring the UK in September and October so be sure to check them out!
