New York City's Luaka Bop is the newest (and longest running) independent label to join drip.fm, a digital platform liaising content creators and their fans. Launching a brand new service called "Luaka Bop's Checkered Table Cloth" the label will offer fans a variety of handpicked releases delivered with never-before-seen content, unreleased tracks, demos, live versions, remixes, or even the latest release before anyone else hears it. Founded by David Byrne in 1988, Luaka Bop has dipped into its eclectic 23 year catalog to provide better digital content (and service) to its most committed fans. For $9.99/month users will receive high quality downloads sent directly to their inbox monthly, supplemented by unique physical content, products and experiences, exclusively for Luaka Bop's drip.fm members, as well as invites to parties and special events. In the first months of membership, the label will offer David Byrne's handwritten notes from 'Beleza Tropical' World Psychedelic Classic 3: 'Love's a Real Thing; Funky Fuzz Sounds of West Africa' Janka Nabay and the Bubu Gang's new En Yay Sah LP, and this fall's highly anticipated Tim Maia record, which has taken more than 10 years to release.

Founded by Ghostly International, drip.fm is home to labels like Domino, Dead Oceans, Morr Music, Mad Decent, Stones Throw, and more. Sam Valenti, founder of Ghostly International and drip.fm, says, "We're quite excited that Luaka Bop is now part of drip.fm. I can remember when I first discovered Luaka Bop via their compilations and the Shuggie Otis reissues that blew everything else away that year. They are indeed the oldest label to join the service, and one of the most unique!"
