Hot on the heels of his Welsh Music Prize nomination Bright Light Bright Light announces the release of his new single Feel It and a run of UK dates.
Feel It is taken from his critically acclaimed album Make Me Believe In Hope – a contender for the Mercury Music Prize with odds of 6/1.
Described by the NME as "The boy Robyn in all but name", and hailed in The Sunday Times Culture section as "A songwriter of extraordinary dexterity", Bright Light Bright Light, released one of 2012's most compelling debut albums, Make Me Believe In Hope. With rave reviews from the music press, broadsheets and blogosphere, and winning fans across the pop spectrum, including Huw Stephens and Elton John, the Welsh songwriter's album zeroes in on electro-pop's devastating one-two of euphoria and alienation, elevated to greatness by killer choruses and depth-charged emotional heft.
“I wanted to do something with more club euphoria” says Rod Thomas aka Bright Light Bright Light with regard to Feel It. “I’d heard Mykal Kilgore singing on a track Del (Marquis, of Scissor Sisters) had played me, so I wrote some diva vocal lines and Mykal stepped in and added 3000% of fierce to the mix. C+C, Technotronic, the darker sides of Behaviour by Pet Shop Boys and Funky Green Dogs‘ ‘Fired Up’ were the kind of energies we wanted to channel with the track.”
