Following the success of their recent headlining tour of Australia in support of their Hunter EP, Heirs has announced their third European tour taking place this September and October with very special guests Soror Dolorosa (France) and A Dead Forest Index.
Since 2009, Heirs have amassed some 100 performances in Continental European, with German label Denovali Records releasing their 2 albums and recent EP to much acclaim. Their 2010 tour culminated with a performances at Bracara Extreme Festival in Portugal and Denovali Swingfest in Germany, as well as headline shows across France, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium and Germany.
An Australian tour with “metal-gaze” legends Alcest followed in 2011, which saw the band courting a confronting visual presence to compliment the weight of their sound, cementing their reputation for delivering an engulfing and all-consuming live experience.
In September 2001, Heirs released 'Hunter', the first single from their forthcoming third album. The material saw Heirs strengthening their melodic resolve, and while equally intense, inhabiting a less oppressive atmosphere, with the band citing Cocteau Twins & The Sisters of Mercy as being influential to their process. In early 2012, Heirs set off on a tour of Australia's East Coast in support of their 'Hunter' release. 3 regular club shows were played in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, with an additional show in each state, where the band gave one-off performances of the B-Side of the 'Hunter' 10" - a 30 minute rendition of The Sisters of Mercy's 'Never Land'.
Soror Dolorosa are a gothic rock/cold-wave bands from Paris, France. Formed in Toulouse in 2001, the band released their long delayed debut EP Severance in 2009 via British label Todestrieb records, with a sound akin to the likes of The Sisters of Mercy & Joy Division, as well as fellow French gothic spectres Corpus Delicti. In 2011 Soror Dolorosa spread their wings with their debut album Blind Scenes, released by Beneath Grey Skies (Alcest, Amesoeurs) in Germany. 'Blind Scenes' saw Alcest take on a more personal colouring, but with a sound leaning further toward cold wave, recalling the likes of The Cure and Human League. Relentless touring followed, with the band supporting Alcest on their extensive European tour in 2011, as well as performing the much lauded Wave Gotik Treffen festival in Leipzig, Germany.
Brothers Adam and Sam Sherry form minimalist two piece A Dead Forest Index. Originally from Auckland/London, A Dead Forest Index formed in 2009 and are currently based in Melbourne. The band create a sound ambitious in contrast and depth, drawing on simple yet dynamic elements, leaving sparse but deliberate structures & washes of sound that centre around the voice. Their songs draw from a wide range of influences such as William Blake, Taraf De Haidouks, Scott Walker and Arvo Part. Their debut EP Antique, originally released in 2011, saw re-release in 2012 by Denovali Records (Germany) and OSCL Records (Australia). Expanding on their minimal, layered live performance, ‘Antique’ brings to life a sound that is strikingly original and sincere. They are currently working on their first full length album due out towards the end of the year.
