Cardiff based chamber pop sextet AMONG BROTHERS have confirmed the release of a double a-side single ‘I Am Certain’/’I Do Not Believe’ for November 19th through Too Pure Singles club.
Drawing influence from the likes of Grizzly Bear, Efterklang and Sufjan Stevens, AMONG BROTHERS mix evocative beats, percussive flourishes and gang harmonies to create a vibrant pop style anchored by evocative themes.
The titles to both songs on their Too Pure-sponsored release were drawn from the novel ‘We’ by Zamyatin. With this in mind, the band have embarked upon a ‘concept single’ with a narrative theme running through the lyrics of both songs. Following the story of a boy falling in love with a cult member, the lyrics reveal his descent into her world in order to get closer to her.

AMONG BROTHERS unleashed their debut EP Homes back in 2011 through their own label Barely Regal Records and since then have gone from strength to strength. Garnering support from the vibrant Welsh music scene and the love of BBC Introducing, they followed their debut with the ‘Keep’ single released by Kissability (Transgressive/BBC Introducing’s Jen Long) and Young & Lost Club.
2012 has been a busy year with the band playing The Great Escape, Camden Crawl and an upcoming support slot with Los Campesinos! The Independent labelled them “Ones To Watch” and Fake DIY touted AMONG BROTHERS “Ambitious and Vibrant, Glorious and Beautiful”.
‘I Am Certain’ & ‘I Do Not Believe’ saw AMONG BROTHERS back in the studio with producer Charlie Francis who worked on the bands debut EP. This time they have expanded their token use of orchestral sounds with the addition of live brass to their recordings for the first time. The results of which are quite frankly breath taking.
