Los Angeles-based musician Faris McReynolds will release Farthest Star by his one-man band ExDetectives on October 23rd. The album is the second ExDetectives record this year and the fourth overall in 2012 for Faris McReynolds who also makes music under the name One Finger Riot.
“Second Chance,” the first single from Farthest Star is now available for download via Los Angeles-based music discovery website Buzzbands LA, while My Old Kentucky Blog has premiered “Miles,” the latest One Finger Riot single from the newly released album Fly By Life.

If four albums in one year weren’t enough, workaholic Faris McReynolds doesn’t just spend time making music. Faris McReynolds is also a gallery-backed painter (examples of his work can be viewed at stardustlane.com), and it was his success in this field that provided fuel for his revitalization of a life-long interest in music that saw him touring in a punk band when he was only 16-years-old.
“All of the time that I spent, unable to invest in music because of painting, is mine again,” Faris McReynolds exclaims. “I’m much happier being able to make music, even if it costs me support in the art world.”
Why record under two different names? Faris McReynolds explains, saying, “Growing up in Texas and India is probably why I have two musical projects that are so different. I’ve been exposed to so much through the culture that I’ve experienced travelling the world with my art. It’s given me so much that I want to explore musically and it doesn’t all fit into one box.”
Fly By Life by One Finger Riot was released on September 18th via the Los Angeles-based Post Planetary label. Farthest Star by ExDetectives is set for release on October 23rd.
