Glasgow’s acclaimed alt-rock quartet Twin Atlantic enjoyed a stratospheric rise in their profile this weekend when the Spaced Out remix of ‘Free’ – the title track from their current Silver-certified album – soundtracked Felix Baumgartner’s landing as he completed his awe-inspiring Red Bull Stratos jump. The mix was commissioned specifically for the event. You can relive the moment right here:
Felix Baumgartner’s jump became the most watched YouTube stream in history, receiving 52 million views as it was broadcast live by 80 television outlets in over 50 countries. The official Red Bull Stratos site also received 21.7 million views, while half of Twitter’s worldwide trending topics were related to the jump.
The ‘Free’ album has so far sold in excess of 60,000 copies in the UK alone, while the singles from the album have been playlisted for a total of 20 weeks at Radio 1. This summer saw Twin Atlantic hit the road with dates with Blink 182, a month-long run on the Vans Warped Tour, packing out tents at Reading and Leeds, and also deliver a scintillating main stage set at T In The Park. They’re now poised to embark upon a major UK headline tour at the end of the month:
