Born Seaming To, in London, she comes from a family of concert pianists. Seaming plays clarinet, amplified glockenspiel, vibraphone, analogue synths, celeste and theremin. As a child she studied at the Royal College of Music in London and then moved to Manchester to continue operatic studies under Teresa Cahill at the Royal Northern College of Music. Post graduation, she has been exploring other vocal techniques and has had coaching from Mezzo-soprano Catherine Perard, Brazilian Monica Vasconcellos and improvisation maestro Maggie Nichols. During her time at the RNCM, Seaming met bass player and producer Paddy Steer and joined the band Homelife, with whom she has toured internationally. Homelife has recorded four EPs and three albums, of which the last two (Flying Wonders and Guruman Hubcap Lady) were released on Ninja Tune.

Other performance and recording outlets are with surrealist theatre company Forkbeard Fantasy, Toolshed - curated by Graham Massey (808 State), Avanti Display Theatre, Robert Wyatt, Jean Claude Vannier, electronic artist Leila, Dutch electronic outfit Funckarma, pianist Matthew Bourne, The Cinematic Orchestra, composer Larry Goves, Sarah Nicolls, free-improvisers Mark Sanders and Ollie Brice, Aleks Kolkowsky, avant garde pianist Leon Michener, Punchdrunk Theatre, The Herbaliser, and Mayming - an experimental duo with cellist Semay Wu that uses electronics, visuals and classical pieces as a basis for improvisation, Mayming completed a tour of China last Easter.
