Laurel Halo is a recording artist carving out a visceral space in American electronic music. Her latest album Quarantine was released on Kode9's Hyperdub label in May to critical acclaim. Quarantine binds her past sounds into a toxic, lush blend of ambient suspension and disorienting detail. Halo’s melancholic vocals, at turns dry or digitally mangled, serve as psychic counterpoint to the placid, isolated nature of the sonic environments in which they’re situated. “I think it’s completely impossible to be futuristic, although I aim for it,” Halo told The Wire in a recent interview. “I try to break down the black and white and allow contradictions to exist.

While revered for her recordings, Halo is equally native on stage and has toured extensively across Europe and the United States. An adept improviser and soundsmith, her live sets are heavy, looming and aggressive; rhythms churn beneath walls of colorful synth, chaotic samples and noise; techno and house influences are brought to the fore, and commune with drifting, disorienting soundscapes.

For Laurel's tour her AV has been made in conjunction with Tom Scholefield aka Konx-om-pax, a multimedia artist from Glasgow who has made video and graphic work for Warp, Hyperdub and artists such as Hudson Mohawke, Martyn, Lone, Kuedo and King Midas Sound and recently released an album on Planet Mu as well. Of his work with laurel Tom says; 'I wanted to create other worldly environments filled with gravitydefying plasma sculptures, beams of light shining through misty organic mutant plant life. Alongside floating metallic space station very much inspired by Moebius and Ron Cobb'

Following the tour Laurel will release the single 'Sunlight on the Faded' on Hyperdub, a new track that feels like a neat resolution to her highly lauded Quarantine album that came out in May this year.

The tour begins in Riga on friday 12th October and concludes late November in London with an intimate date at Plastic People.
