Leech, the solo project of prolific producer and artist Brian Foote, is set to release Tusks, a new 12" that's a swirling amalgamation of disco and house on Los Angeles-based label, 100% Silk, out February 11th, 2013.

In anticipation of the release, Leech has released a visual accompaniment that acts as a teaser for the new tunes, one that showcases a glowing, shimmering body getting down to the sparkling, expanding beats in nothing but a loincloth. Self-directed by Foote, the video can be seen in all its glory here.

With a history that includes production credits for Zola Jesus, Grouper, LA Vampires and more, Leech has solidified his status as an artist with breadth, one that can find the right sound for a variety of artists while putting his mark on everything he touches. Tusks is a mind-melting, disco-vibrating collection of escalating jams, one that stirs acid-laden touches into jazz-filled pockets and sprinkles some techno dust on top, approaching a dark corner of electronica that immediately fills the room with sweat, lasers and gratitude.

Microscene main man and Kranky konfidante, Brian Foote bounced from Portland to Chicago to LA, first getting into gear and then getting into gear to become Leech, his deconstructed-dance-‘deavor. Known for “just getting it,Foote was the maker of dreams come true when he manned the mix for Zola Jesus, LA Vampires, and Grouper, but as Leech he takes his levels-devil, diagonal dub, mood mixin’ wonk wizardry to someplace strange and sideways.

Leech plays a conceptual concert, sucking sounds from hear and theirs. His is the genre of Chrono Dance, taunting with temporary tempos while forgoing four on the floor for time-traveling beats. Tusks is a style-sampler, approaching acid, teasing techno, and jumbling jazz; it’s the blip and bloop-ers reel of Big Dance Ideas, and you will dance – just not comfortably.
