It's nominated for a total of 5 Academy Awards including 'Best Picture', 'Best Original Screenplay', 'Best Supporting Actor' [Waltz], 'Best Cinematography', and 'Best Sound Editing'

At the box office, the movie galloped right to the top. Upon its Christmas Day release, Django Unchained made $15 million dollars and debuted at #2a record for an R-rated film. Since then, it's become Tarantino's highest grossing and most successful film to date.

The soundtrack matched the film's level of esteem and fervor.
