Feldman, an advocate for disadvantaged children and a former leader of the nation's second-largest teachers union, has died of breast cancer, colleagues said Monday. She was 65. Feldman died Sunday night at her Manhattan home, said Edward J. McElroy, who succeeded her as president of the American Federation of Teachers. She took the national job after directing the New York public teachers union.
