Deep Elm signs England's Free Diamonds

1 OCTOBER 2005
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEEP ELM RECORDS is pleased to announce that England's FREE DIAMONDS has joined the label's
exclusive roster. Deep Elm will release FREE DIAMOND's debut full length "There Should Be More
Dancing" worldwide in early 2006. FREE DIAMONDS kicks off the label's third volume of This Is
Indie Rock (hits stores on November 8) with the barnstormer "Blind Boys" which initially
grabbed the label's interest.

Formed in 2004 from the ashes of Spitfire Down, Speeded Summer and Polarbear, the members of
FREE DIAMONDS share a mutual love of both progressive and popular music. The band is already
gaining a cult following in the UK thanks to their uncompromising, unequivocal sound and
breakneck live shows.

Sharing as much in common with the likes of Blood Brothers, Bikini Kill and Ex Models as they
do with Prince and the New Revolution, FREE DIAMONDS is aiming at a target audience of,
well...everyone. They have an unmistakable sound that straddles the line between indie rock and
post-punk without ever leaving the pop realm. With thumping bass lines, propulsive drum beats
and guitars that snake in and out of some of the most unique vocals you've ever heard, FREE
DIAMONDS want to make you dance...and dance you will. Listen to "Blind Boys" plus two
additional demo tracks from FREE DIAMONDS:

Now, What Part Of Free Diamonds Don't You Understand?

"Sauntering precariously between lunacy and abject, no-nonsense genius, rapid fire serrated
riffs lay siege propelled by what sounds like a helium enhanced vocal recanting half-remembered
nursery rhymes which together merge to charge into a perplexing 'anything can happen in the
next two minutes' foray. Ultimately, it's all fraught, frenetic and totally fabulous." - Losing Today
