Weaponeer on Nagasaki A-Bomb Dies at 94 (AP)

Ashworth, the weaponeer in charge of the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki, Japan, at the end of World War II, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, during heart surgery at the Arizona Heart Hospital in Phoenix, family friend Glen Smith said. He was 94.  Ashworth, who retired in 1968 as a Navy vice admiral, was assigned to the Los Alamos-based Manhattan Project that developed the world's first atomic bomb. (AP Photo/file)AP - Frederick L.
