[punknews.org] Plan It X plans punk rock summer camp

Plan-It-X records have announced their plans for this year's summer vacation. Last year, Plan-It-X took a school bus across the country, putting on day long festivals in various locales. The year before, they had a 10th anniversary show including the reunion of Operation: Cliff Clavin. This year they'll be hosting a "Punk Rock Summer Camp."

The camp with run from July 5th to the 11th in the label's hometown of Bloomington, IN. Included in the activities will be an orientation day, classes on politics, sexuality, science and more, trainings on how to deal with police officers, passive resistance and more, a swap meet, some punk shows, and a carnival to cap the whole deal off. Lodging is tentatively scheduled to be on Indiana University's lawn, in a semi-legal fashion.

There is no cost for the three day summer camp, although entrance into the shows will be 5 dollars, the proceeds of which will go to the bands as well as local charities, the hopes are to raise upwards of 6,000 dollars.

The list of teachers and classes is hoped to be posted by April 1st, 2006. There is no list of confirmed bands as of yet, but bands that have been asked to, considered, or might play include One Reason, the Bananas, Latterman, Defiance Ohio, Ghost Mice, Madeline, Onion Flavored Rings, The Mountain Goats, Propagandhi, Bright Eyes, This Is My Fist, The Evens, J-Church, Saw Wheel, and Jeff Ott.
